Antonio's job requires that he travels frequently. It usually doesn't bother me, I'm the kind of person who likes a lot of "alone" time...if only I could get some with two babies. He left yesterday at 4:30pm to catch a plane. By 6:00pm the following had already happened.
1. Ninja peed in his pants, over my carpet. That's just great.
2. After donning clean underwear, Ninja pooped his pants. Hmm, not fun to clean. My mood is quickly souring.
3. Ninja bit Gambit on the arm. Super. I'm losing my mind already.
4. Gambit decides to cry, scream, whimper constantly because he is teething and has nothing better to do.
I'm hoping I survive through the end of the week. Better yet, I hope my children survive.
So I have spent all day at my mother-in-law's house to can peaches with her. It actually has been great because the boys love to play over there, and there are lots of other hands to help me keep them corralled. And, bonus that I feel so domestic! Who knew that it could be such a satisfying feeling?
I ordered a bunch of cute diapers for Gambit last week (we cloth diaper) and I can't wait for them to get here. Once they arrive I'll take a picture and try to figure out this whole posting thing. Perhaps I should read the "PC for Dummies" book.

Room Sharing - AKA The Padded Room
I moved Ninja's bed into Gambit's room yesterday now that Gambit is sleeping through the night (sort of). It was always my intention to have the boys share a room. I think while they are young they will enjoy it, and hopefully can have some fun memories when they get older. I should have prepared myself better for the transition.
It didn't really help by trying to put them to bed early. That was my first mistake. But it was Friday night, my husband had been working late almost every night that week, and I was absolutely at the end of my rope. I just wanted them to go to bed so I could sit with some peace and quiet. We did the whole routine, got the pj's on, Ninja was excited to be with Gambit, and then all went downhill.
They weren't tired (clearly, but I so badly wanted them to be!) so they played, and talked, and sang. That was all well and good until it got very quiet. "Hmm," I'm thinking to myself. There is no way that they actually fell asleep already. "Oh crap!" is my next thought (here comes mistake number two). "I forgot to take the art supplies out of the closet." This includes, markers, paper, play doh, past art projects, and other random things that I don't want the kids touching. Sure enough, I peek in and Ninja is surrounded by all this stuff on the floor (Gambit had, miraculously, fallen asleep). I quickly start cleaning it up, thank goodness he hadn't started "decorating" the carpet yet. Ninja is clearly peeved that I am trying to stifle his artistic talent. I tell him I'm all for his budding artistry, but only during certain hours of the day when he is well supervised. Ninja begins to throw a fit while I am frantically trying to find all the caps to the markers. This, of course, wakes up Gambit who begins his high-pitched, sonar radar quality shriek. With both kids in hysterics, and my rapidly moving in that direction, I manage to fumble my way through the abyss of paper mache', play doh cups, and confetti pieces, and move it all into what is now the play room.
I calm Gambit down and half heartedly tuck Ninja back into bed. A few minutes later Gambit has gone back into dreamland, and Ninja has decided he needs to train his vocal chords so he can be eligible for the Best New Artist Grammy. Ugh. "Ninja," I say as I'm peeking through the door. "Remember we need to be quiet now because Gambit is sleeping." He then gets a very sad look on his face and says "But Mommy, I want to scream." Oh good grief child! You've never screamed in you whole life and you want to do it now?
So after many trips downstairs to get cups of water, baggies of cinnomon toast crunch, more pillows (because 3 just isn't enough), they were finally both asleep. Ahh, the blissful sound of silence! I think I'll be needing that padded room after all, for myself.

I'm way too lazy to keep up with this!
So, I started this blog so that long-distance friends and family could keep up with us. But I apparently am too computer incompetent to figure out how all this works. I'm supposed to be a child of the digital age, but I say bring back the 8-tracks and disco! Okay, I'm not that old!
Gambit and I had a wonderful trip in St. George. He was unusually well-behaved on the plane, much to my surprise and delight. Since coming home, he has developed this ear piercing shriek that he thinks is hilarious. It is even more hilarious when executed at the most inappropriate times. Church services, 3 am, standing next to the woman who thinks children should be seen and not heard at the Wal-Mart checkout. Actually, that one was timely executed. But despite the shrill screams he has developed, at least all the screaming has tuckered him out long enough to sleep through the night! Woo Hoo!
Ninja is going 3 weeks and counting without a potty accident. Another thing to celebrate. It's amazing the things that I now get excited about. It used to be a new pair of shoes, or a cute hair cut. Now its children that sleep, and fewer poopy diapers to change.

More Potty Training Success!
Ninja has now gone almost 3 days without a potty accident. Yay! I never realized how great it would be to get rid of diapers. Although I still prefer changing a poopy diaper over poopy underwear.
Gambit took his first two steps last week. He was sick all day Saturday with a high fever. He's working on getting his top two teeth and isn't liking that process so far. He and I will fly to St. George, Utah on Wednesday to visit some family.

Seattle Trip
Nonnie and G-Pop were taking a quick trip up to Seattle and because Antonio needed time to study for school, Ninja and I decided to come with them. It was so fun! The weather was great, Ninja was a good traveler (except for the one night in the hotel he wouldn't sleep), and because Nonnie gets travel perks all the time, we got to spend one night in the penthouse of a nice hotel in downtown Seattle.

First Bites
Ninja had his first bites of rice cereal mixed with breast milk. He didn't know what to do with it and wasn't too thrilled with the new taste and texture.
