My cousin submitted an awesome picture in a contest to win a trip to NYC. Please click on the link below and vote for her picture so she can win! It only takes a moment, and you only have to do it once, but we would love you forever and ever!

The Rain Clouds are Comin'
I'm sick and have been for going on a week now. I think the hardest part about being a mom is being sick and still having to do everything. Antonio has been trying, and he isn't travelling right now (thankfully), but it's still tax season and he's still hardly ever home. And lets be honest, when he is home it's just one more person I have to think about.
My parents are leaving the country in two weeks and will be gone for almost 10 months. This week is really my last week with them because I'm taking a week-long road trip next week to Idaho.
My sister (who is like my best friend ever) is leaving on a mission in two weeks. And while I'm so proud of what she is going out to do, my selfish moments usually take over and I wonder how I'm going to cope without her.
While my state of denial about my entire family leaving me at the same time has held up so far, it's all starting to hit me now. Don't worry Krystal, I won't be a party pooper while we're visiting. Unless I get bit by a dog ;)

Locked Out
Boy, we really aren't starting the week off right in this house. I've been trying to play catch up on all the housework that needs to be done (and not succeeding) when a friend came over. I was on the front porch chatting when Gambit closed the front door and somehow locked it. I didn't even know he could do that! Eeek. I called my mom because she has a spare key and she left right away, but she lives about 15 minutes away and I was worried about Gambit in the house alone. I mean really, this kid is walking trouble sometimes (but oh so cute and wonderful). So I sit next to the front door and try to coax Gambit into opening it. This is how the conversation went.
Me: Gambit, can you unlock the door? Turn the little button.
Gambit: Um....You do it Mommy.
Me: Mommy can't do it, can you reach and turn the button?
Gambit: No. You Mommy.
(pitter patter of little feet running away from the door)
Me: GAMBIT! Get back over here so Mommy knows where you are.
To further add to the humiliation of being bested by my 2-year-old. I think every single one of my neighbor's either came home or drove by and saw me sitting on my porch yelling at my kid through the front door. Not my proudest moment. But, my parents eventually got there (and probably very timely though it felt like forever) and I was quickly back in. Gambit was sitting in the hallway quietly playing with his dinosaurs. He gave me the funniest look like, "Where have you guys been?"
And now you know why I can only handle two kids!

Musings on Progeny and family planning.
I haven't had much to write recently. There doesn't seem to be a lot going on around here right now. Antonio is in the middle of busy season (AKA tax season) so he's been working crazy hours and travelling more than not.
About every 28 days or so I get a little baby hungry (which couldn't possibly be related to some kind of biological menses). Here's my question; How in the world do you people with 3+ kids handle it? The noise, the mess, the constant drain on mental and emotional faculties. I just really don't think I'm cut out for it. I think I like the idea of more kids, but I don't know if I can actually do it. Kids are so much work (don't get me wrong, I love my kids fiercely) and I've already got a loner personality, I require a lot of sleep and alone time to function well. The thought of three kids seems so completely overwhelming to me. So all you veterans, let me know the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I think a lot of this is partly guilt-induced. As a woman (and a Mormon) I almost feel like I should want to have a lot of kids, and I just don't. I'm very happy with my two and I don't feel like anything is missing from our family. And I completely understand that I don't need to justify my actions to anyone, particularly on the very personal subject of family planning. Am I missing some sort of fundamental female gene because I don't want more kids? Maybe it's because having 2 kids is so....normal. I like to push the envelope and do things my own way. Can you tell that I am way overthinking this? As it stands now, neither Antonio or I want more kids so this is mostly a moot point. But, a moot point that occasionally runs through my mind.

Engagement
6 years ago today a really cute boy asked me to marry him :) I said yes, of course, and the rest is history. Happy Engagement anniversary to Antonio and I. On Sunday he and the boys made me breakfast in bed and gave me flowers. So sweet! He's traveling this week, but I want everyone to know how awesome my husband is. I love him!

Conversations with Gambit
The following conversation happened with Gambit when it was bedtime and he kept getting out of bed:
Me: (after finding that Gambit got out...again.) GAMBIT! Get back in your bed. Do you want me to give you a spankin'?
Gambit: NO! Daddy do it!
Me: (stiffling a laugh) You want Daddy to give you a spankin'?
Gambit: Yes!
Me: (totally laughing now) Ok, I'll go tell Daddy.
(a few minutes later Antonio and I were downstairs)
Gambit: Daddy? You come spank me?
Me and Antonio: hahahahahahahahaha
It was so funny. I guess it's time for me to rethink my methods of discipline if my children are asking for it. Not very effective!

Camera Fun
The boys got a hold of the camera the other day when no one was paying attention. These are a few of the pictures that I discovered when downloading everything onto the computer. I don't think there are any budding Ansel Adamses in this house!
